She can inspire change even in Switzerland. I always wanted to work with her.
When I found out she was coming to Zürich in the end of August 2008, I contacted the producers to see if there would be a chance to be accredited as a photographer at her show. And guess what – I got it!
It was not the ideal environment (Zürich, Duebendorf airfield) or circumstances (taking pictures 60 meters from the stage during only the first three songs of the “Sticky & Sweet Tour”) but not too bad for a first time. The disturbing factor for me was the other photographers from the local mass media, so I had to shoot her differently to express the overwhelming qualities of the world’s best performing artist.
This project for me was like a sign on the highway – “CHANGE Next Exit” – anyone has the right and the power to try, to take a first step, even if a shy and amateur one, on the path towards the dream. It’s just a matter of paying attention…., and first of all, to your true inner self! And outside judgment or approval is totally meaningless as human beings and societal norms can’t feel what only you can feel…
