--from DC Shorts Film Festival jury representatives:
""K.REATURES is a cool combination of still photos and music to create an experimental film about dichotomy. The film is very interesting as an art piece. The way the photographs played with stereotypes and told a story was intriguing.
A group of men and women pose with various props, clothes and make-up, gradually wearing less and less and interacting with each other more and more, presented a slideshow of still images. The style of the film (using a series of still images to tell a story) is unique. The clothing, hair and make-up are intriguing.""
What a trip, and what an awesome surprise to have my show featured at the Downtown Art Walk Los Angeles (only 4 shows are selected for the feature, by the way).
My K.reatures are successfully battling with dichotomy around the world - next stop Zürich, followed by Tokyo!
Stay in touch here & on my social media; and thanks so very much for your ongoing support and interest in my work (and in me ^__^)
I couldn’t agree more to this quote. My project K.REATURES emphasizes exactly that—knowing oneself through acceptance and forgiveness of dichotomous components within ourselves and in others is indeed a battle, and we all in it.
Paris was the first destination for my World Tour after the successful launch in New York last year, and oh boy… It was such a rewarding experience!
“I love it, it’s punk!” – a phrase one man said when he saw the show for the first time. Such an honor! The gallery where my exhibit took place is located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris – aristocratic upper class (read: somewhat conservative). So my show was like a middle finger to the conformist bourgeois neighborhood, yet something that generated quite a high turnout.
The two opening nights of the show were exquisite. Thanks to the smooth collaboration with my New York producers & creatives in Paris, the gallery attracted a very diverse crowd who expressed their genuine interest in my work. It was so fascinating for me to hear people’s impressions and thoughts on dichotomy and their positive reviews. It was somewhat different compared to New York audience, though:
NEW YORK: wow, the symbolism of crucifix imposes a very strong message…, the blend with religions is very edgy!
PARIS: wow, sexual intensity of every single image is just overwhelming…, what crucifix?
The artworks really spoke to a lot of visitors on so many levels: aesthetics of fashion photography, color combination and composition of shots, and deep philosophical meaning represented in a risqué format. I spoke with a lot of curious guests about meaning of self-discovery, sexuality, forgiveness, restrain and blindness of religions versus liberty of accepting the “dark side.”
Even though the sales were not as big as in New York, the concept and its execution as well as my book inspired and challenged a very demanding audience quite successfully. And the most rewarding experience to me was my own discovery of cultural differences between peoples’ perception of philosophical and psychological concepts and meeting new admirable folks in Paris.
So now let’s see what LOS ANGELES have got to say about this everlasting battle… (opening launch party is on June 5th)
PS: snapshots from the show in Paris are shared on my facebook page.
Once upon a time...
I battle with dichotomy…
I strip off layers of my outer character to my bare core…
I want to know who I really am…
It’s like I’m in a movie: heroes, villains, sets, props, learned lines, climax...
...and that is happening!
In 2014 I'm going on World Tour with my show "K.REATURES" - would be awesome to see you guys in Paris, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Zürich; and maybe other cities.. Stay tuned and keep sharing your stories of dichotomy!
